Data & Analytics
Turning what came back down from the aircraft into maintenance decisions, survey products and inspection findings.
Flight data monitoring
Every flight generates telemetry almost nobody reviews. Trends predicting a failure are usually visible well before it happens.
Flight data monitoring is standard in airline operations and effectively absent below it. The tooling assumes airline data volumes, formats and budgets. Small-operator telemetry is high-rate, inconsistent between types, and lands as files nobody opens.
Automatic ingest from Sortie, normalised across airframe types. Exceedance detection against the design envelope from Planform, so limits are defined by engineering rather than guessed. Component trending feeds maintenance forecasts in Hangar.
A motor current trend that drifted across fourteen flights before crossing any alarm threshold, so it was replaced on schedule rather than failing in flight.
Photogrammetry, mapping and LiDAR
Survey flights must become orthomosaics, point clouds and terrain models with known accuracy.
Processing is slow, largely opaque, and accuracy claims are hard to substantiate. Reprocessing a dataset months later with different settings often produces a different answer, with no record of why.
Processing runs as a declared, versioned pipeline: the same inputs and pipeline version always reproduce the same output. Accuracy is reported against control points rather than asserted, and flight geometry comes from the Sortie record.
A volumetric survey re-run eleven months later for a dispute, reproducing the original result exactly because the pipeline version was recorded with it.
Computer vision inspection
Inspection imagery must be reviewed for corrosion, cracking, vegetation encroachment and structural damage at a volume no human can sustain.
Inspection models are trained on data that does not resemble the asset being inspected, and inspectors will not trust a model that cannot explain itself. A false negative on a structural crack is not an acceptable error.
Detection ranks and routes for human review rather than replacing it: thousands of frames narrow to the few hundred worth a specialist's attention, each finding carrying its source frame and confidence. Thresholds favour false positives over misses, because the costs are not symmetric.
A transmission tower campaign where review time dropped substantially while every defect confirmed by ground inspection had been surfaced by the model.
